Day 13: The Soundtrack to Singledom

I might do something more with this later, but I think this could be something really good  if I played with it more. Here is the first draft of the Singdledom EP. Most of the poems that go up here are before any revisions made by me, and usually I won't touch em again. But there have been a few poems I'll go back and endlessly rework, this may be one of them.

Soundtrack to Singledom

Fizzy popping of Dr. Pepper
crackling over icy rocks in a frosty mug.
Far too big to drink in one sitting.

Rain drops hitting pop cans
that were casually thrown away,
a symphony of used and empty souls.

The flapping of slick skin and palm,
quickly coming to a moaning finish.

The continuous ringing of the doorbell
by pizza delivery drivers doing a duet
performance over several nights.

The rhythmical beats of a typing keyboard
sending messages to personal ads online.
Fuel for future song lyrics.

This is the Singledom EP.
